I found this great photo on the Mint Design Blog of Dan Wheeler’s collection of Dansk pitchers and teak bowls. Really cool. The article mentions a collection of pepper mills, but no photo unfortunately.

I found some evidence online that Dansk might be reissuing a few of their pepper mill designs by Jens Quistgaard. They have given them names: Jane, Rosie, Jack, Hank, and Audrey. It doesn’t look like they have released photos, but their distributors seem to have catalog listings.
Can’t wait to see them!
I was alerted to an amazing photo from the Sam Kaufman Gallery in LA recently. Featured on Modernica’s blog, this is the most amazing pepper mill collection I’ve seen - he’s got many mills I don’t have and a few I’ve never seen. Even if they were all common mills, the way he’s got them [...]
There’s a Dansk mill on eBay right now - one of rosewood and metal series - that will set a new record (at least as far as I’ve seen) for a Dansk pepper mill. The auction started at $795 and there is one bid, so it will sell. Let’s see how high it goes…
While I [...]
Thanks to Teak Pepper reader Brad B for sending me these photos of a super rare, super crazy Nissen designed teak mill he recently acquired. Although Quistgaard’s mills are often referred to as “chess piece” mills, it was actually Nissen who marketed his mills as shaped like chess pieces. Most of them are roughly shaped [...]
How It’s Made is one of my favorite TV shows. I like making things, and it’s great to see how things are really made - by people who actually know what they are doing.
Their latest episode takes the viewer inside the Peugeot factory to show how they make their legendary pepper grinding mechanisms. It’s a [...]
My book Danish Pepper used Robert Chipman’s amazing illustrations as a proxy for the mills I did not have in my collection at the time I did the pepper mill photo shoot. There were 17 mills/sets pictured. Since then I’ve filled in my collection a bit and gotten some more information, which I want to [...]
It’s been a whole year since I put in my order for the first 50 copies of the book Danish Pepper. It seems like just yesterday.
Thanks so much to all the people who purchased it over the last year and have helped support my efforts to get the word out about Jens Quistgaard and his [...]
eBay has been slow lately. I don’t know if it is spring fever, the down economy, or what - but there haven’t been a ton of interesting auctions lately. It’s been a while since I’ve posted and that’s because until a recent spate of interesting auctions, I haven’t seen too much going on!
Well, if collectors [...]
The nice folks at Dansk have been busy lately. Their latest is a a series of aluminum serving dishes inspired by some of Jens Quistgaard’s teak classics from the early days of Dansk. The Dansk site does not credit JHQ with the pieces, but I’m sure that 2 of these pieces (one comes in two [...]
