Hi – Sorry for the delay answering. I think I used Minwax Honey Maple, which is what I use on all my work for a slight “vintage” tone. Be warned, though, this is a lot of work!

I saw one of these in Macy’s the other day — you just pull on the top while holding the bottom. I should have taken pictures — or better yet, bought it.

Jill, when I was actively collecting a couple years ago, I would have classified that style as uncommon. It’s probably about the same today. The most common ones were the one I call pepperbot and the 895 (mushroom) style.

Mark may have a different opinion.

you did a great job. I like the stain colour . Do you remember the brand you used?

I have a line on some of these stools on Craigslist the guy is selling them for 2 bucks each!
