The Wallpaper magazine article mentioned a Christie’s auction for a pair of brass candlesticks that sold for $4,375.\u00a0 I figured these must be some huge prototype or something but they seem to be the familiar candlesticks that were part of the early Dansk line for many years.\u00a0 A pair is on eBay right now with a Buy it Now price of $179, and sometimes they sell for less than that.\u00a0 I probably paid $40 or so for mine.\u00a0 The price is SO high I can’t help but wonder what is going on with that.<\/p>\n

The Christie’s listing<\/a> says they are in brozne and that they have a heavy patina.\u00a0 Perhaps that is the key.\u00a0 Judging from the photos, they do look like they have a different look than the usual brass pieces.\u00a0 If they are indeed a rare bronze casting, that could be why they went for so much.\u00a0 However, I would expect that the listing would mention this fact as part of the provenance if indeed they were a one-off or something like that.\u00a0 They could just be tarnished brass, though…<\/p>\n

Anyone have any ideas???<\/p>\n
