It’s been a while since I’ve posted on recent auctions.\u00a0 There was a long time without much interesting happening over the summer, then a flurry of great auctions (not always mills) that I got a few good scores from, and then recently there’s been a few big, exciting auctions that have ended.<\/p>\n
A few recent trends I’ve noticed:<\/p>\n
– The super rare mills are ending over $500 on a regular basis.\u00a0 These are the “once every few years” mills that you never see.\u00a0 Below are three examples of these mills, all ending in the last month or so.\u00a0 The square bottom Palisander mill is one of my favorites.\u00a0 The one with the thin top with a hole is super rare – rare enough to be left out of my book completely because I didn’t know about it.\u00a0 The tall tapered one shows up more frequently than the other two, but it is quite large and very rare.\u00a0 All three of these are sadly still missing from my collection<\/p>\n
– More and more mills are garnering higher prices.\u00a0 Many end over $200 regularly, with prices growing to $450 for the right auction – like the apple core pictured below.<\/p>\n
– Fine mills by other makers are gaining top dollar.\u00a0 A Digsmed mill went for $310, and several Nissen designs have been reaching close to $200.<\/p>\n
– There are still deals to be had.\u00a0 I won the Laurids Lonborg set pictured below for $20 just a few hours ago.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
