As recent eBay activity shows, the auction prices of Dansk salt & peppers are still quite high.\u00a0 Here’s some highlights from the last month or so.<\/p>\n
Despite the horrible photography, a super rare Quistgaard wenge mill sold for $837.99, which I think might be a record price for a JHQ mill.<\/p>\n
A collection of mills sold for $403, but I assume the reason is the cane and teak mill that was included in the set.<\/p>\n
Few mills by Quistgaard are worth this much, but it’s ever rarer to see those by other designers going for as much as $384.\u00a0 This rare Nissen with an octagonal base did just that.<\/p>\n
There were 5 other mills that sold for over $300, all with Peugeot grinders, all great old shapes.<\/p>\n
What a great round up.\u00a0 It’s getting harder to build up a collection, but it is still possible.\u00a0 These are all the super rare mills and there are plenty that are still affordable.\u00a0 There seems to be a focus on the metal Peugeot grinders, with similar mills with plastic grinder going for a lot less.\u00a0 I also must say that collecting on eBay has gotten so much less fun now that you can’t see who you are bidding against or who won.\u00a0 There used to be an informal community of bidders who are now anonymous.\u00a0 Not nearly as much fun.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
