There’s an exciting Dansk pepper auction being held LA Modern auctions. The auction featuring 25 JHQ mills will take place on 6/29.
A few interesting notes about the auction.
– There is one quite rare mill included here, located at far left in the second row back. It’s a very cool mill that combines two simple shapes in a unique way, a straight cylinder bisected by a cube.
– Four of the mills are doubles. In the front row are two square ones, and in the next row are two pawn shaped mills. The difference in size between the two square ones is quite striking – it would be interesting to look at the details a little closer.
It will be exciting to see how this one ends. If it follows the current big auction trend, it could top $4000 as a final price.

Well, the last auction of 19 of these sold for $4250 in March, so I’d almost expect more than $4000 for the collection. That’s way above what you’d pay for each piece on eBay, though, since there are so many common ones in it. (I’d only consider 5 of those uncommon or rare — the rest can be acquired easily if you have a couple weeks on your hands.)
So much for that total, eh? Only $2000. There were a lot of duplicates, and it’s hard to tell what generation they were from. $2000 is a lot more in-line with eBay prices than $4250, but it’s still overpriced.
