I think this is a recent development, but Google Books has made EVERY back issue of Life Magainze available online. This is an incredible resource. The articles! The photos! The ads! Frankly, I’m mostly into the ads. So full of classic vintage products, great typography, and the un-PC charm of early marketing. I love looking at old magazines, but hate getting my hands all musty. Now I can page through old mags at the comfort of my own computer. I did a lot of research for the book Danish Pepper using the New Yorker – who published their entire back catalog on DVD. This is very similar, but on Google.
Of course, the first search I did was Dansk, and found an amazing shot they took back in Oct 1962. It features a few teak trays, two Festivaal trays, and a wenge Rare Woods ice bucket all designed by Jens Quistgaard, as well as several other Danish Modern pieces by the likes of Kay Bojesen.
