There’s a great article in the New York Times about Michael Hoffman and his family who are even crazier pepper mill collectors than I am.
While I focus on the work of Jens Quistgaard and other Danish Modern mills, he seems to love all pepper mills. He picks them up on his travels and seemingly everywhere else. He does seem to like Dansk mills, though. The end of the article contains a nod to what I think is Sam Kaufman’s amazing collection that was up for sale a while back.
I highly recommend the article – and make sure the check out the slide show that goes with the article. Highlights From a Pepper Mill Collection.

Michael Hoffman of Arizona and a few of his pepper mills

I also think it must have been Sam’s collection (though it wasn’t 1stDibs but Wright, as I recall). Sam still had the display unit a year ago (was trying to interest me in it).
Hello i have a beautiful teak Danish peppermill that i would like to know more about. it is in beautiful condition with a brass finial on top.
On the bottom it is stamped IN the middle AH.
above this mark is a stamp that is difficult to read, but i think is PARANM
below the AH, it is marked DANEMARK
i have photos if someone would like to see.
any information on value, origin, make would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!
