I love going to thrift stores. You never know what you might find. I’ve found lots or random Dansk, Heath, Krenit, many other vintage pieces, and a guitar amp. I’ve been able to sell and enjoy much of what I’ve purchased. But nothing that’s blown my mind.
And this is exactly what happened with teakpepper.com reader Kevin last week. He’s quite a thrifter, and came away with one of the rarest mills out there. It’s a clearly marked Dansk JHQ palisander rosewood mill with a silver band. I have two mills from this series, and there are perhaps 5 or 6 in total, each more rare than the next.
Enjoy the amazing photos his wife took, and picture yourself coming across this at Goodwill.

Hello, I have a couple of Dansk pepper mill questions. May I ? Thanks
hi! My hank teak peppermill (and salt shaker) has a cork on the bottom and is marked DANSK DESIGNS– is it an older version? I only see corkless Hanks!!
I need to replace a couple of the teak pins on a vintage Dansk pepper grinder. Any ideas about where I could find some? Thanks
HI, I just found a Dansk #829 peppermill at a local thrift store. It has a Tre Spade grinder. Can you tell me if this is an original or a re-issue peppermill. Thank you, Debby
Hello – I just came across the pepper mill/salt shaker combo shown on your website, http://www.danishpepper.com – it’s the one on the left with the large orb with the spire on top. I know it’s a fairly rare one… but here’s my question.
On the bottom it is stamped DANSK DESINGS LTD. DENMARK JHQ. Seriously… the N and G in DESIGNS are transposed. Does this help to date it? Perhaps it is an early prototype? Any information you can provide would be very helpful. Thanks!
The Danish auction House Bruun Rasmussen have a Quistgaard – Nissen auction in start May 2016.. The have collected around 80 lots by Nissen and Quistgaard. Up for sale is rare Quistgaard / Nissen Mills and also a Collection of 67 peppermills in teak and Rosewood ( not Nissen or Quistgaard)
Worth checking out if you collect Quistgaard – Nissen or other teak and rosewood mills
I saw the rare salt and pepper mill I recently inherited on the cover of your book. I have been searching for one for years. I have loved it since I was a child and now 43, inherited one from my grandmother. I figured out how to load it by pulling the ends apart. I see some of the inner pieces are broken and I want to know more about it and about where I might be able to get a second one. Please let me know if I can send you a picture. It is truly a beautiful piece. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank you, Christina
