It’s been a while, but its time for a roundup of recent (and one present) auctions on eBay. Between the holiday and the economic crisis, there hasn’t been much action. A few cool things here and there, but it has been slow. Prices are down a little, but holding. I find myself surprised at both how much and how little things go for on a daily basis.
Starting out with an auction that doesn’t end for a few days is the amazing Palisander tray. This amazing piece is probably the most elaborate and complicated piece Jens Quistgaard designed. I’ve blogged about it before, and it’s up for auction again. It’s already around $380, let’s see how high it goes.

A few days ago, this cocobolo JHQ rare woods tray sold for $338, which is a great deal. Cocobolo is probably the most beautiful wood ever, and this tray is just a beautifully carved hunk of it. Amazing.

Peppermills are still doing quite well. This example with a metal grinder sold for $330 right after a similar one sold for $275. There were a few more that sold in this range, but there have not been many peppermill auctions lately.

This pair of super cute Kobenstyle enamel pans sold for $236. This is the small 2 cup size, and they are quite rare in this color, this size, and good condition. A day later, another one sold for $44, though, so all is not lost for new collectors.

That’s all for now. I’ll let you know if I see any other cool auctions.

Follow Up:
The Palisander tray sold for $890. Again, I think this is probably the most complicated and dramatic piece from the Dansk line of the time, so I’m not surprised. Let’s see if this guy gets $1900 for his, though: http://WWW.LOWSTUDIO.COM/inv39.html
I actually found one of those 2 cup sized kobenstyle pots on Ebay a few months ago for 6 bucks! It was a buy it now so it was just great timing. It came in “Canary Yellow” which I had never seen before.
